Clinical Professors
David Baker
David had been an educator in the St. Vrain Valley School
District for 19 years. This experience includes: two years as a Clinical
Professor, three years as an Induction Coach, and 14 years teaching at the
middle school level. During his time at the middle school David taught math,
social studies and English to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.
As a Clinical Professor, David mentors teachers working on their Master’s of
Education through the CU School of Education, student teachers from CU and
teachers new to St. Vrain in their first year of teaching. Most of the teachers
he supports are at the middle and high school level. He teaches Classroom
Instruction That Works and Induction Academy sessions as well as helping
facilitate the Digital Learning Collaborative and the Standards-Based Education
Alignment for math.
David completed his undergraduate degree, teacher licensure, Master’s Degree and
Principal Licensure at Colorado State University. He earned and was awarded “The
Best Should Teach” recognition from the University of Colorado in 2006.

Rhodes
Rychie
has been teaching elementary for the past 22 years in the St. Vrain Valley
School District. The first 16 years she taught grades first through fourth
grade. The last 6 years she has been a site-based instructional coach that has
given her opportunities to support K through 5th grade, special education and
literacy teachers. Through these experiences it has expanded her knowledge of
teaching strategies in Elementary Education and taught her the importance of
working in a collaborative environment.
Rychie received her
undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Midland Luthern College in
Fremont, Nebraska. She participated in the Partners of Education (PIE) program
and received her Master’s Degree in Literacy from CU Boulder. This will be her
first year as a Clinical Professor where she will support novice and experienced
elementary teachers.
We must view young people not as empty bottles to be filled, but as candles to
be lit.
